ABC Misquotes Palin on Prayer

Vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin is interviewed by ABC News' Charlie Gibson.Once again the elite media is looking down its hooked nose at simple Sarah. They just cannot seem to resist the inner urge to think that those outside their own little circle are stupid bumpkins. Not content with simple condescencion, Charles Gibson had to distort Sarah Palin ‘s statements about prayer, God’s will and war.

As one writer describes it, Gibson Throws a Spitball:

GIBSON: You said recently, in your old church, “Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God.” Are we fighting a holy war?

PALIN: You know, I don’t know if that was my exact quote.

GIBSON: Exact words.

PALIN: But the reference there is a repeat of Abraham Lincoln’s words when he said — first, he suggested never presume to know what God’s will is, and I would never presume to know God’s will or to speak God’s words.

But what Abraham Lincoln had said, and that’s a repeat in my comments, was let us not pray that God is on our side in a war or any other time, but let us pray that we are on God’s side.

That’s what that comment was all about, Charlie.

GIBSON: I take your point about Lincoln’s words, but you went on and said, “There is a plan and it is God’s plan.”

Sarah’s original statement:

“Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God,” she exhorted the congregants. “That’s what we have to make sure that we’re praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God’s plan.”

The best part was when she gave Charlie a history lesson on Abraham Lincoln.

Remembering 9/11

Today we pause to remember the tragic and senseless deaths of 2,996 souls, murdered in a blatant act of terrorism. Families, along with scores of others, gathered at the World Trade Center Memorial site, the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania to pay their respects.

It is a day worthy of our remembrance.

Why is Obama Running Against Palin?

This article in the Wall Street Journal is a must read. Sarah Palin’s explosion on the national political landscape has obviously rattled the Democratic Messiah. While sarcasm is understandable, even appreciated, it has turned to sawdust in Obama’s mouth. He is digging himself and his candidacy a deeper and deeper hole from which he is unlikely to crawl out.

Of all the advantages Gov. Sarah Palin has brought to the GOP ticket, the most important may be that she has gotten into Barack Obama’s head. How else to explain Sen. Obama’s decision to go one-on-one against “Sarah Barracuda,” captain of the Wasilla High state basketball champs?

It’s a matchup he’ll lose. If Mr. Obama wants to win, he needs to remember he’s running against John McCain for president, not Mrs. Palin for vice president.

Michael Dukakis spent the last months of the 1988 campaign calling his opponent’s running mate, Dan Quayle, a risky choice and even ran a TV ad blasting Mr. Quayle. The Bush/Quayle ticket carried 40 states.

Winning Against Terrorists

Ann Coulter wrote another of her blistering but humorous essays tweaking the noses of the Liberal Left. There wasn’t a major al-Qaida attack in 2003. Nor in 2004, 2005, 2006 or 2007. Liberals were flummoxed because they had set a standard of success that they expected Bush to fail. Grrrrr. The guns are winning. Bad guns. Very bad guns!

President Bush has correctly said, we have to be right 100 percent of the time.  However, the terrorists only have to be right one time. It is hard to believe, even for conservatives, that Bush has a perfect score for seven years. We have been so successful in fact that people have all but forgotten that the threat is real and dangerous. So they make jokes about the President and complain that we are fighting overseas.

Morose that there hasn’t been another terrorist attack on American soil for seven long years, liberals were ecstatic when Hurricane Gustav was headed toward New Orleans during the Republican National Convention last week. The networks gave the hurricane plenty of breaking-news coverage — but unfortunately it was Hurricane Katrina from 2005 they were covering.

On Keith Olbermann’s Aug. 29 show on MSNBC, Michael Moore said the possibility of a Category 3 hurricane hitting the United States “is proof that there is a God in heaven.” Olbermann responded: “A supremely good point.”

Actually, Olbermann said that a few minutes later to some other idiotic point Moore had made, but that’s how Moore would have edited the interview for one of his “documentaries,” so I will, too. I would only add that Michael Moore’s morbid obesity is proof that there is a Buddha.

Obama's Education Plan

I am not a fan of many of Senator Barack Obama bid for election or his policy ideas. However, at first glance, his plan on education has a great deal of merit.

“Barack Obama promised Tuesday to double funding for charter schools, pay teachers based on performance and replace those who aren’t up to the job, embracing education proposals normally more popular with Republican candidates.

The Democratic presidential nominee says both parties must work together to improve education in a pitch to independent voters in this presidential election swing state, where the fight over education reform has been the focus of a longtime partisan battle. It was the first of two days that Obama was spending on education policy.”

Down Syndrome babies need love

Michael Gerson wrote a moving article about the New Eugenics; killing babies that may be imperfect. He points out that Civil rights for women, blacks and other minorities have risen while protections for “defective” babies has fallen dismally.

The wrenching diagnosis of 47 chromosomes must seem to parents like the end of a dream instead of the beginning of a life. But children born with Down syndrome — who learn slowly but love deeply — are generally not experienced by their parents as a curse but as a complex blessing. And when allowed to survive, men and women with an extra chromosome experience themselves as people with abilities, limits and rights. Yet when Down syndrome is detected through testing, many parents report that genetic counselors and physicians emphasize the difficulties of raising a child with a disability and urge abortion.

This is properly called eugenic abortion — the ending of “imperfect” lives to remove the social, economic and emotional costs of their existence. And this practice cannot be separated from the broader social treatment of people who have disabilities. By eliminating less perfect humans, deformity and disability become more pronounced and less acceptable. Those who escape the net of screening are often viewed as mistakes or burdens. A tragic choice becomes a presumption — “Didn’t you get an amnio?” — and then a prejudice. And this feeds a social Darwinism in which the stronger are regarded as better, the dependent are viewed as less valuable, and the weak must occasionally be culled.

Christians must not sit on the sidelines while this happens in America. Now is a good time to speak up and tell the truth.

Michelle Malkin calls out the media on their double standard for working moms.

Let’s talk Mommy Wars, double standards, and the media elite. Last Friday, Howard Gutman, a member of the Obama campaign’s National Finance Committee, attacked Sarah Palin’s ability to be a good parent and have a high-powered public life at the same time. In a finger-wagging appearance on Laura Ingraham’s radio show, Obama’s operative scolded the Republican mother of five children for not putting her professional career on hold.

“Your responsibility is to put your family first,” Gutman lectured as he singled out Palin’s Down Syndrome baby and pregnant teenage daughter. “The proper attack is not that a woman shouldn’t run for vice president with five kids, it’s that a parent, when they have a family in need…” should get out of the public sphere and stay home.”

AZ Prop 102 – Marriage = One Man + One Woman

On November 4, Arizonans have the opportunity to say YES for marriage by voting YES on Proposition 102. Prop 102 is 20 simple and clear words that define marriage as the union of one man and one woman. It’s that simple:

“Only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in this state.”
