Joe Biden Gaffes Again
Joe Biden has gaffed it again. The Democrat vice presidential candidate guaranteed that if Barack Obama is elected president, there will be an international crisis within six months. I was especially curious to see how the Obama-loving media would report this potentially huge verbal faux pas by the Delaware senator.
As I expected, hardly a ripple in network television and the news above the fold focused on Britney Spears new hairstyle but no mention of Joe Biden and our impending international crisis. The old double standard was working overtime. I found myself wondering how the MSM would have treated Sarah Palin if she had said something the same thing.
Dan Rather to the rescue. Occasionaly, someone in media remembers that fair and balanced is not just a network tagline. In this video, Dan Rather is talking with Joe Scarborough and calls the media whitewash exactly what it is; a double standard. Take a look

Not All Women Are Stupid Or Liberal
I am always pleased to discover new blogs that apply Christian faith to issues in our culture. You will want to take a look at Flashpoint. It is the blog of Women of Faith in Culture. This article, by Executive Director Sarah Flashing is wonderful.
Yesterday, the Feminist Majority put out a statement against Colorado’s Amendment 48. Apparently, Amendment 48 would recognize the personhood of embyos. This is what the Feminist Majority had to say about that:
“We want to make sure that women have more rights than an egg!”
Well, either their statement reflects a profound ignorance–because those of us who are pro-life do not equate eggs with embryos– or this is what they have been wanting to say all along.
With smoke and mirrors, they speak of the embryo in its pre-fertilized state so as to avoid the scientific truth we know about all embryos…that they are living human organisms. Eggs are not.
Why do they do they insist on ignoring this scientifically obvious difference? Because the Feminist Majority really does believe that grown women have more rights than smaller humans, and that this goes against the conscience of the majority of Americans. It is necessary to their agenda to obfuscate this issue because an egg with moral worth is not an egg, its an embryo.
Young women in their reproductive years are being psychologically primed to donate their eggs for research purposes, but these eggs never remain eggs, they become embryos. If they are persuaded to believe falsely that their eggs forever remain eggs, then they don’t have to consider that the eggs they give up actually become their embryonic offspring. What woman is not repulsed by the notion if giving up her offspring for research? For the Feminist Majority to speak of fertilized eggs as simply eggs is scientifically false and a deliberate attempt to confuse the same women they believe have more rights than these much smaller humans. How can they, the Feminist Majority, claim to respect the rights of women if they can’t respect our basic intelligence?

New ESV Study Bible
Many in the Christian community have been eagerly awaiting the new ESV Study Bible. Demand has already been a bit overwhelming for Crossway. Pre-publication demand exceeded 100,000 copies. This is a true study Bible combining dozens, even hundreds, of resource materials for in-depth examination of the Word of God. Personally, I have enjoyed the ESV translation immensly. My friend David Porter had a review up on his website within 24 hours of receiving his copy.
Look what I just received yesterday! I just received my first copy of the new English Standard Version (ESV) Study Bible! I was so excited to receive it, the first thought that came to my mind was to photograph it for my blog. For this first post, on the new ESV Study Bible, I thought I would share with you my first impressions. 1.) Wow! This is a huge text! According to my blue Chinese desk ruler, this text, lying on its back, it is 2 1/8 inches deep! That depth competes with the copy of Dr. Wayne Grudem's "Systematic Theology" that also sits on my desk. 2.) 2,750+ pages! 3.) Another reason for my enthusiasm, is affinity. Dr. Wayne Grudem was the General Editor of this project. Wayne is also my Sunday School teacher. There are two other contributors, to this project, that I know from my home church: Dr.(s) Paul Wegner & John DelHousaye. Further still, there are many contributers who are my mentors from afar. Examples include, J.I. Packer, Vern Poythress, Darrell Bock, John Piper, and quite a few more. Additionally, there are many scholars, from all over the world, who I look forward to getting to know. With the Internet, it is incredibly easy to plug right into their minds! 4.) Content! Of course, first and foremost, this is God's sacred text. But as you all know, this text can be difficult to understand. With this study Bible you literally have scores of the world's most brilliant minds, holding your hand all along the way. I noticed also, that this study Bible also touches on some of our culture's most difficult challenges such as abortion, world religions and cults, foundational doctrines, and much, much more. 5.) On-line ESV Study Bible website. I haven't perused this additional value as of yet, but I did get, with my new Bible, a secret password that unlocks features that evidently allow me to personalize the site. For example, evidently I will be able to keep notes, on the web, of my studies. My mind reels with the possibilities of such an on-line resource and the possible community that could be formed around the study of God's word.
Whatever your translation preference, the ESV Study Bible will be a worthy addition as you grow in your understanding of God's Word.
