Girl Selling Virginity Online

Natalie Dylan is selling her virginity via online auction.

The Moonlite Bunny Ranch in Nevada, the brothel that is arranging and hosting the deal, is especially gung-ho about Dylan. “Natalie is a virgin and would like to sell this priceless and rare commodity in a very exclusive and private setting,” says Bunny Ranch owner Dennis Hof.

While any reasonable person should question the commodity’s rarity, more than 10,000 bidders have stepped forward to bid for Dylan’s … ah … purity.  If the Bunny Ranch’s owner is to be believed, someone has offered $3.7 million.

What does the feminist community have to say about this outrageous exploitation of this young girl? Not much so far.  Searching Google yields only the faintest and infrequent article suggesting that a feminist is uncomfortable with this sexploitation. I, for one, am nearly speechless.

My friend Sarah is a reliable monitor of Feminism from a Christian perspective. She writes,

The lack of moral outrage by feminism doesn’t surprise me as contemporary feminism has discarded the good it once represented in order to promote a completely unfettered lifestyle. Women are free to be exploited themselves, and this is somehow empowering. In fact, I’d go so far as to suggest that by creating a culture where women’s bodies, eggs, and chastity are up for sale, ‘created’ is a pleasant (euphemism) for human trafficking. There is no need for restraint in a world where individuals willingly put a price tag on what is priceless.

What about the FBI? What about the police? Can the FTC do anything? No. No. and No.

Legal experts seem agreed that this is a First Amendment issue. Since prostitution is legal in Nevada, the services may be advertised in areas where it would be illegal so long as the service is performed in a state where it is legal. (I feel a little dirty just writing that sentence.)

One does not have to a prude or a stereotypical Puritan to take offense at this advertisement. Let us call this what it is; Sex for Sale. Whether to pay for college or perform some perverted socialogical experiment, tolerating such behaviour can only harm future generations of young women.

I wish this woman truly understood not only her worth but that she is worthy of being respected, honored, and treated as the gift she is. Unfortunately, she had chosen to de-value herself according to the dollar. Sad… My prayer is for her to come to a place where she truly understands her God given specialness and value.

This woman’s actions and the actions of those encouraging her give me authentic sick feeling in my stomach. It is a rare “commodity” and she’s treating it like “the next thing up for bid on The Price Is Right!” And the whole sob-story about putting herself and her sisters through school is a smoke-screen. It’s all about money.

  3. LarryJackson

It’s hard for me to imagine how any woman could stoop to this level and not feel dirty and used. Some people will do anything for money.

Reminds me of Screwtape’s Toast ( in which the demon Screwtape laments the paltry purchase prices of the souls on which they feed these days and pines for the good old days:

“Oh, to get one’s teeth again into a Farinata, a Henry VIII, or even a Hitler! There was real crackling there; something to crunch; a rage, an egotism, a cruelty only just less robust than our own. It put up a delicious resistance to being devoured. It warmed your inwards when you’d got it down.”

“Instead of this, what have we had tonight? There was a municipal authority with Graft sauce. But personally I could not detect in him the flavour of a really passionate and brutal avarice such as delighted one in the great tycoons of the last century. Was he not unmistakably a Little Man — a creature of the petty rake-off pocketed with a petty joke in private and denied with the stalest platitudes in his public utterances — a grubby little nonentity who had drifted into corruption, only just realizing that he was corrupt, and chiefly because everyone else did it? Then there was the lukewarm Casserole of Adulterers. Could you find in it any trace of a fully inflamed, defiant, rebellious, insatiable lust? I couldn’t. They all tasted to me like undersexed morons who had blundered or trickled into the wrong beds in automatic response to sexy advertisements, or to make themselves feel modern and emancipated, or to reassure themselves about their virility or their “normalcy,” or even because they had nothing else to do. Frankly, to me who have tasted Messalina and Cassanova, they were nauseating.”

Things don’t change, do they? Virgins were sold at a special rate in 18th C brothels. But the brothel owners knew how to “manufacture” virgins – cheating clients who wanted to be sure then that they would get someone clean.

I wish I could say that this news shocks me, but it doesn’t. I guess it is more of the “signs of our times” and the total degradation of human worth.

I’m sure that this is also a publicity stunt, being made by a brothel to attract new customers. I wonder if the so-called patrons realize that unwanted gifts await them in the form of venereal disease and a hardened heart?

  8. Chris
    Chris says:

What’s wrong with sex for sale? It’s her body, it harms noone, let her do as she pleases. Honestly, prostitution should be legal in all 50 states. Certainly not even half of the population would solicit it. If it was a business regulated by the government just like everything else it would be safe and the government would get to collect taxes on it, too.

The bottom line here is morality. At least in your eyes. But in America you have no right to try to impose your morals on anyone else, that’s a giant part of the first amendment of the constitution. That’s like trying to make it illegal for people to be Muslim or Jewish, because you think it’s wrong and ultimately harms society.

  9. Dr.Bruce
    Dr.Bruce says:

Chris and Kyle, do you not realize that every law is a codfication of morals? We value life and property so murder and theft are against the law. The fact that 49 states have laws against prostitution is a reflection of the morals of society.

Also, I think you have a significant misunderstanding of the First Amendmant.

  10. mom811
    mom811 says:

There could have been an outrage first against making prostitution legal, but “they” (whoever they are) did legalize what’s morally wrong! So how could moral degeneration be fought now? Only by the power of God which can be moved by our prayers!

  11. Harlequin
    Harlequin says:

Blah blah blah prayer. Blah blah blah feminism. Blah blah blah VD. Blah blah blah money.

The world is a very strange place, I agree. But I think there are a lot of misplaced morals and ideas flying around, here. This girl will do what she will do, and there is virtually nothing you can do about it, in spite of how morally inadvisable some of you think her actions are. To be perfectly honest, I admire her opportunistic attitude. This is a stunt that is almost never performed in today’s society and this girl is capitalizing on the stupidity of the rich masses in tandem with her own striking beauty in order to garner an exceptionally large amount of money. Think of the possibilities. If more people were to put such effort into bilking people who have too much money out of it, then perhaps we could… stimulate the economy! Hahaha.

Really, though, the bottom line to this is that this brilliant young lady is making a very wise financial decision and there is nothing that prayer or idle banter about “morality” can do to change that.

  12. Dr.Bruce
    Dr.Bruce says:

Harlequin, thanks for the high level of intellectual input.

One test of behaviors is what would be the result of those activities on a large scale? Widespread prostitution has always had bad results for women and society.

  13. redjuniper
    redjuniper says:

Chris is right. Freedom is the most fundamental principle on which our country is built. This girl is empowered to take control of her future with the money she will receive. What does she gain by giving her virginity to some college guy or boyfriend who will probably value it a lot less than whomever is willing to pay millions for it.

I also agree with Harlequin that it is a wise financial decision for her. It certainly beats working sixty hours a week at some fast food place to make ends meet, or one of many other worse jobs that people have to take.

  14. Samuel Wright
    Samuel Wright says:

I may not agree with what she is doing, but it is her decision. I only hope that in the long term and in the fullness of time, she can live with her choices.

I do not look at this from a religious point of view, more from a point of view of a person that can look in the mirror and be proud of who I am and what I have done in my life and being able to answer for that with no shame. After she goes through with this, I have to wonder, will she be able to do the same?

  15. rights4all
    rights4all says:

People have the right to do what they want to. With every decision, there is a consequence. What America forgets, is yes you can do and say whatever you want (debase myself for any reason, say hurtful things, say there is a God, Say there isn’t a God), but you’d better be ready for the consequence, good or bad. Freedom is good, but it comes with responsibility. Getting pregnant, having an abortion, getting sick, or even dying from STD, psychological issues later from regret are all possibilities from this decision. Yes you’re free to sell yourself, but don’t blame anyone else later when you realize that this was YOUR choice 🙂

  16. Petula
    Petula says:

When I heard about this I wasn’t surprised. Amazed, maybe, but not surprised. Unfortunately, nothing surprises me these days. If I remember correctly from the radio broadcast, which is how I first heard about this, her sister had prostituted for a week to pay for higher education. So, she thought this was a “better” way to get the money she needed.

Uh… I guess it’s just another reason to use a cliche phrase: What is the world coming to?

  17. Mel Avila Alarilla

This is sex and feminine exploitation of the highest order. It reduces a young female into a commodity that could be bidded out to the highest and most brutish bidder. How humans have degenerated to the lowest form of animism that accentuate his brutish nature. God have mercy on these people. I wish these moneyed people who participated in the bidding have just donated their money to charity to ameliorate the great suffering of their less fortunate brethren. Thanks for the post. God bless you always.

  18. Shelly
    Shelly says:

Hmmm. This one is hard for me. I believe every person has the choice, especially women, to do as they want with their bodies. Selling sex isn’t the issue here for me. As a mother, I have to wonder how her parents feel. Not that it is their choice either, but wouldn’t a child at least take them into consideration before going public with such an announcement? Mostly my concern lies in the fact that this would be her first time. If this is true…I think she may regret the decision later on, regardless how much money she gets for it.

  20. Nona

She’s selling her virginity. Do you get that in writing? Hypothetically, can someone buy her virginity but not “take” it, but hold rights to her virginity and demand that she never use it.

Okay, my brain works in weird ways.

  21. Frank
    Frank says:

There are interesting ethical questions around this issue, plus concerns about the young lady’s emotional wellbeing. It seems a little odd though, that you’d introduce a legal aspect, as if somehow it’s right for the state to step in and halt a bona fide commercial transaction.

The US has pretty solid laws against such infringement of human rights.

As for those who wail about the godless, the flagrant act & the money, well, I’d really love to see if they’re living the life that Jesus asked of them.

  22. Dan Y
    Dan Y says:

Morality, like art, means drawing a line someplace (Oscar Wilde)

Your morals appear to be at play here, Chris, and yet you seem to have no problem expressing them. Why then can’t everyone else? Ah. Because we are Christians and we should have no voice lest we utter the word (gasp!) GOD!!
So where DO we draw the line, Chris? Yeah, it’s her choice. She’s over the age of consent. (Though some countries list that age as young as 12- so I guess they can sell themselves as well?) Where do we draw the line? Obviously not at murder or we wouldn’t be killing millions of unborn babies every year. Nothing drawn at sex…so perhaps there isn’t any line. Does that make us a society living in freedom? Or a crumbling nation where there are no lines and it’s every man for himself.
There’s no argument that it’s NOT her right to sell her virginity, but I do believe it is a sin. Yes, we are all sinners, and while the consequences of one may be worse, no one sin greater than another. So I can’t judge her for anything she’s done because by Gods standards, I am a sinner, unworthy of judging (even myself).
Thankfully, by the Grace of God, we have Jesus Christ who died for our sins. And God has also graciously given each of us the choice to accept Christ as Lord and Savior. HE will be the Judge of where the line is drawn.

And when you stand before God and He asks you, “Why should I let you into heaven?” — What will you tell Him?

  23. Dan Y
    Dan Y says:

LOL What life would that be Frank?
We have two great commandments given by Jesus. #1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. #2. Love your neighbor as yourself. (Matthew 22:37-39
Selling her virginity would fall into category #2. I would never sell my body (not that anyone would ever be even remotely interested). By the love of Christ, I pray that she not sell hers either.
As for your question, my answer would be yes. To the best of my ability and with regular failures, I try to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. What else can one do but try…

Some people use that “Freewill” of theirs in the oddest sorts of fashions.

But that is why the Lord gives it to us, so that we can decide for ourselves, as well as learn from those decisions. This person, like myself, the author, and all of humanity must live with the reactions to our actions.

This girl has a treasure more precious than silver and gold, and once sold, that same silver and gold received for it will not buy it back.

Let us hope that when the time comes someone will be speaking with her, and able to tell her… “Silver and Gold have I none, but what I do have, I give freely…”

  26. Johnny Walker Purple
    Johnny Walker Purple says:

MY only problem with this story is that she shouldn’t have waited this long to have sex. Life is for living no matter what some 2000 year old mythical ascetic thinks about it.

I strongly doubt that she will be emotionally damaged as a result. Prostitution causes emotional damage only through rape which becomes sadly common due to being forced to live outside the law (its legal in nevada with full police proteciton), violence through pimps (no pimps in legal prostitution), and through being forced by economic (cut welfare and you get more prostitutes) and physical necessity.

So you are wrong in every respect.

  27. Johnny Walker Purple
    Johnny Walker Purple says:

Virginity is not precious or worth silver and gold. The mystique of virginity created by people like you is the only reason she can get any money for it. It’s just a flap of skin that when ruptured bleeds.

The majority of everyone’s first time is crap and sex is better after you’ve had some practice so please get over yourseles people.

  28. Johnny Walker Purple
    Johnny Walker Purple says:

Which really shows more self-value, giving it away for free or selling it for a high price? It’s a joke, but it shows that the language used here is absurd.

The reason the feminist community isn’t outraged is because she is not being pimped out or being exploited by those who think she is less than, like yourself. Instead she is taking control of her own body and making her own choices.

You fundies are the one who keep describing this girl as “pathetic” and “sad” and “perverse”. She doesn’t hate herself and she is not being harmed. So take your morality out of her pussy and live your own lives.

  29. Heresy Today
    Heresy Today says:

Aren’t you no better than the “fundies” your addressing? Your grouping an entire block of people into a description that only fits a percentage of them.

You were quick to use my “silver & gold” quote, but slow to see that in my comment, I said it was all on her “freewill”. I never said she was “less than” in any way, ie: “pathetic” and “sad” and “perverse”.

The problem with society is that it is not “religion” that has reduced the female to “less than”, it is “secular society” that is guilty of that crime.

Look at what you said… “It’s just a flap of skin that when ruptured bleeds.”

Is that what a woman is to you? Not to me… To me she is…

“An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels.” -Proverbs 31:10 (NASB)

I have a wife of many years, as well as 8 daughters ranging in age from 25 years to 6 months, should I view them all as… “It’s just a flap of skin that when ruptured bleeds.”?

Any husband or father that thinks that way is not deserving of a wife and daughters, and I am rest assured that even “secular society” would agree with me in this scenario.

True “Disciples of Christ” view the female as a “a help meet”, one half of a whole.

I use the wife scenario because I view sex to be exchanged in that setting, anything outside of that setting degrades both male and female. Even the “humanist” will tell you that “procreation” is best done in a “marital setting” where the children can be raised and nurtured by both Mother and Father.

I hate to burst your bubble, but your POV is a very small minority. To use your own words, your tiny minority view is looked upon as: “pathetic” and “sad” and “perverse”, by both “religious”, and “secular” society both.

Lesson #1. Never quote me unless you quote me across the board. You will always look the fool if you don’t.

  30. Chris

  35. Jamie
    Jamie says:

What? Are you kidding me? I don’t know what disgusts me more.. the fact that this girl is selling it, or the fact that disgusting people are willing to PAY for it. And, not small amounts of money either… I mean, that’s someone with clout if they have that kind of cash to throw around!

The only way I could be okay with this outcome is if a group got together, won the bid, and gave her the money under the condition that what they wanted to do with her virginity was to keep it until she got married!

  36. JenniJ
    JenniJ says:

I discussed this recently with my family and we all had very different opinions about it. If I was that girl I would be very concerned with who I would end up with, because a man who is willing to pay 3.7 million dollars to have sex with someone is a man with a lot of money but probably not a lot of friends, or good qualities. However, we all pay for sex one way or another. Buying a girl drinks in a bar, dinner, etc. That’s how all the less wealthy men attempt to bed women, and sometimes sex is the only motivator behind the dates, so really, that’s the same thing. It’s just not as honest.

  38. Sushi Freak
    Sushi Freak says:

Let’s call this what it is more bluntly – prostitution. The only unusual part is the price she is commanding.

What I’ve never understood is this – why do men desire virgins for sport? I have a theory that it has something to do with their own sexual insecurity. If this is her first time, she won’t have anything to relate it to. So while men may speak of these things as if it is something to brag about, it always sounds terribly pathetic to me. And I’m not a puritan at all.

  39. Angela Wenke

The first time I heard this story it was featured on The Today’s Show and they were actually doing and interview with Natalie. According to the interview she as claiming that she was auctioning her virginity in order to secure her college education.

Being a mother of two daughters myself, this story horrified me. My daughter is to start college in two years and I would sell my cars and house to make sure she got her education before I would ever allow her to auction off something so precious.

It really makes you think of her self worth of herself, one must think she must not value herself too much to auction off something so personal and special. My wishes is that this does take place, that she realizes she is worth so much more than to offer off her virginity to the highest bidder, not to mention the possible danger and diseases she could contract.

  40. Nick
    Nick says:

From a legal side, I really do see nothing wrong with this. They are breaking no laws. Since Nevada allows prostitution it is completely legal.

But at the same time, I can’t see why someone would want to sell there virginity. That’s a very special thing, Even if you are getting paid for losing it. It’s just really sad.

    Attila O. says:

I don’t see what’s the problem here. Really, for me, the fact that in Belgium some are protesting to lower the legal sex age from 14 to 12 is something that is frustrating, because, while it might be ok to have sex when you’re twelve, but if you’re suiting for sexual harassment, the law should be defending you.

But here, a girl is willingly selling her virginity, and people are trying to stop her? I think the law should protect her if she was forced to do so, but if this is really her own free will, well, then I’m absolutely ok with it. That’s just it.

  44. Bret
    Bret says:

The entire thing is a publicity stunt. Selling her virginity like that guarantees she makes the news (which she has), it guarantees people blog about it (which they have), and MOST importantly it guarantees that she may never have to work a day in her life.

She is no better than the lady with the eight children (more actually but eight at once) with no job and no husband. They are simply looking for someone else to pay their way through life. That woman gets aid and assistance from our taxes and talk shows in order to interview her.

With over $3 million just to sleep with a man for an hour at most, this woman will be able to retire the same day. It’s is gross to an unimaginable degree, but it is also genius in a way.

  45. Liane
    Liane says:

What on the world is happening??? They even have the nerve to make a business out of this??? I’m outraged too! Either the girl is a purely dirty without even caring whatsoever for herself, or that those who’ve arranged the auction are among the most twisted people on the planet.

Shocking, but I must say, this is reality.

  46. Ithiel
    Ithiel says:

As sad as it is to see this, I have to agree with Bret on this one.

If her life has really come to a point where she must become a prostitute in order to survive, it seems ‘logical’ (in some sense, at least) to broker a deal that would secure her financial freedom for the remainder of her life.

Don’t get me wrong – I’m greatly opposed to prostitution, but it their own right to do with their body as they see fit, and the ‘entrpenerial’ methods she has used in this case ensure that she will only need to do this once, rather than for the next 20 years, prove that there was at least some forthought in her decision.

Who knows, maybe she spend some of the money on a good therapist….

  47. Ness
    Ness says:

This is utterly disgusting and degrading! What has this nation, which was once under God, come to? To think that there are people out there who find this atrocity acceptable is beyond mind boggling. Her purity and chastity is FAR more precious than the millions that are offered. I pray to God that she sees (and those who find this acceptable) this as a tragedy and not something to be celebrated. May God be with her, love her and guide her away from these claws of immoral sin.

  48. melissa
    melissa says:

As a feminist, (and I say this with a bit of a lump in my gut), I have to say that although I completely disagree with selling yourself for any amount of money, if she is doing it willingly, without coercion she should have the choice to. Don’t get me wrong, it is anti-feminist in nature to sell yourself, but many, many women have lost their viriginity to strangers or boyfriends who are long since gone and in this way, she is getting something out of it. I think she is losing too much, but if it’s worth the money to her, maybe she is making the right decision for herself.

  49. impNERD
    impNERD says:

No one should have a problem with this. It is her body, not yours. She can do what she pleases with it. If she wanted to cut off her arm and send it to someone as a gift, she could. That isn’t illegal. However, having SEX, a natural act, is illegal. Ridiculous.

You can believe what you want about it. You can say it is against your religion. You can say it is against your morals. But you aren’t her. No one is forcing you to have sex for money.

Also, the sale was for a *chance* to have sex with her. That is why it is legal in all states. It falls under the same reason why escorts are legal. The escort has a chance to back out anytime they want and so can she.

as an 18 year old female virgin i find this story empowering it is no one’s right to judge this girl for her decision and she owes no explanation. in the world today we have pre-teens losing their virginity barely into middle school. so instead of losing it on some drunken night to a guy who probably won’t remember her name, or a man who will probably just add another notch to his belt she lost it to someone who wanted her badly enough to pay and astronomical fee. not that i would personally do this but i understand and support women who essentially want to take control of their destiny. is this prostitution? yes. is it wrong? no. in the long run who is this hurting
