Victor Hanson, of the Hooer Institue wrote the following article, The Gaza Rules which captures my view of the conflict in Gaza.
For several prior weeks, Hamas terrorists had been launching rockets daily into Israeli towns that border Gaza. The recent volleys of missiles had insidiously become more frequent – up to 80 a day – and the payloads larger. Iranian-backed Hezbollah terrorists were reportedly supplying their own training and expertise.
These terrorists point to the Lebanon war of 2006 as the template for provoking an Israeli counter-response that will bog down the Israeli Defense Forces in the streets of urban Gaza and ensure that Palestinian civilians are harmed on global television. Read more... (estimated 2:47 mins)

When the Allied Forces, under the direction of Supreme Commander, Gen. D. Eisenhower, found the Nazi death camps, the General ordered photos be taken from every possible angle. He also ordered that local villagers be led through the camps so they might see the horror first-hand. While his reason is variously quoted, it was essentially, “Get it all on record now – get the films – get the witnesses -because somewhere down the road of history some bastard will get up and say that this never happened”. Reporter Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury, has been jailed for sedition, a crime punishable by death. What did Choudhury do? He advocated establishing peace with Jewish people and developing ties with Israel.
After demonstrating their commitment to open, honest debate of critical issues in the debacle with the Pope, this is the next logical step for Muslims.

Has anyone actually read Pope Benedict’s recent speech? While the ancient reference to a 14th century Byzantine emperor was politically inept, it was part of a larger theme. More precisely, faith and reason are not only compatible but intertwined and that violence is not a good way to advance one’s spiritual convictions.

Why does the world press give Muslims a free pass on outrageous behaviour? Why does the American press condemn Americans for slights both real and perceived but ignore shocking, even murderous, acts by Muslims?

With the advent of the $1.00 Store and the Internet consumers are accustomed to finding bargains on everything. What would you pay to help 26,000,000 people find freedom? Would you pay $1,000?
Along with many others, I am saddened by the loss of life in Iraq but I blame the terrorists more than President Bush, unlike many. I unearthed an astonishing bit of not so trivia today.
